Icons shortcode

Hi, I would like to create a HTML widget containing an icon and some text. I have considered using the Virtue Info Box widget, unfortunately by doing that I wouldn’t have full control of the text formatting such as the style (bold, italic, ecc) or size. Thus, I thought of using a shortcode that calls a particular icon (similar to the iconbox shortcode) within a simple HTML widget. Is this something we can do? Or..is there any simpler way to make an icon and some text work together? Ideally, the icon should be center aligned with the text.
I would like to create a sidebar similar to this (have a look at the left sidebar) > *Login to see link < this is not my site and Im sure does not use Virtue..just want to show what I am trying to do 🙂
