Cannot activate the WooCommerce lightbox, even if Virtue lightbox is disabled

I am having an issue with the Virtue Premium Theme in combination with WooCommerce. I installed a plugin called WooCommerce Additional Variation Images, which unfortunately does not go together with the Virtue lightbox. WooCommerce support told me to deactivate the Virtue lightbox and simply use the one that comes with WooCommerce. Now I was able to disable the Themes lighbox in the settings. However when I activate the WooCommerce lightbox the checkbox keeps getting unchecked after saving my setting, similar to this issue here: *Login to see link
In contrast to this issue however I really WANT to activate the other lightbox. Can you please help me with this issue?
