Problems setting up the child theme

Hello,

I run the blog .

As already written here in the forum, I have expanded in the functions.php by some functions in the code.

Now it is so, as soon as a new update of the theme, my extensions are overwritten and I must insert this by hand.

To avoid this, I want to set up a Child Theme and have loaded and installed the Child Theme from the kadencethemes.com website.

As soon as I activate the theme, my footer is the first to be completely diced and the widgets re-sorted.

Now I go and set up a functions.php with my code lines. As soon as I save this, my complete blog will be destroyed. It is then no longer accessible. I then have to delete the Child Theme via FTP, so WordPress works again.

I would like the code I inserted into the functions.php inserts. But the firewall of the forum does not allow it and I do not know how I can add a file or a photo here.

My question is now:
A) How can I activate the Child Theme without destroying my layout on the Footer and possibly elsewhere?
B) How can I add my extensions?

Thanks in advance!

Best greetings from the sunny Germany,

Karsten
