footer adjustments

I’m trying to figure out the best way of adjusting the height of the footer as well as the style. I was 3 sep sections in the footer to be displayed and have them look as if they are divided with this | then change the styles of the font color size etc for the information and links I place in the area. Is there a great way to do all this and include the footer on all my pages? Thank you for your assistance.
