Portfolio grid question about linking to it.

I made a page under the portfolio option. 17 images in it and it works exactly like I wanted. But I can’t seem to access it from a call to action button. I want to have a cta button on home page to click and arrive at the portfolio page. I have tried getting the permalink from the portfolio page and using that in link on the button but it just won’t open page.

I have copied the links from the perma link thing and pasted them into notepad. The top link pasted into the browser takes you to the page, the bottom link was copied from the browser url after it didn’t find the page and won’t work. Something seems to change after you use button.

I read the tutorial on setting this up and I might be missing something. I love the portfolio page but in the tutorial it seems to have another page involved?
What I am trying to do is have a page with 17 images some text on the right side of the group of images and then each image can be clicked on to lightbox it. No links needed to go anywhere else. Portfolio grid with project layout besides works. But it says auto play and puts little arrow buttons up on the top. I am only using this one page. Am I using the wrong approach to doing this?
