How to I put specific full-screen-width background images behind slider & footer

I am working on this new website; moving it from a custom theme to Virtue – this is my dev area:
You can see examples of what I am trying to copy/emulate here from the current live website:
On the homepage, I am trying to put the 2-tone red flag graphic behind (and around) the Kadence Slider. (Basically, the graphic should be full-screen-width and cropped to fit, as the source is like 3200×2000.)
Same with the full-screen-width footer. I used simple custom CSS to make the footer full-screen-width, but now how do I get the full-screen-width 2-tone blue flag graphic as the background for the footer?
