Staff Grid problem upon Virtue Premium Theme upgrade

Hi
This is specific to STAFF GRID page. It didn’t happen on any other grids (I use products for example with Woo Commerce)
I had a problem when upgrading to 3.9.7 – which I solved by restoring to previous theme Version: (3.9.0)
(client’s site so I can’t leave it with problem which I understand hampers investigation.)
I had not used any versions between these two so I don’t know when this might have ‘crept’ in.
The problem is that no matter what the column settings in the page if EXCERPT is chosen (which it has been since launch with no issues last Aug) the grid appears as one column only. I tried changing it to others but all do the same.
Curiously: the footer BG became truncated on the right as well so it was the same width as the single grid column.
For this reason I believe 3.9.7 has a bug on this.
