Need to adjust alignment of Post Featured image

The following page uses the Pinnacle shortcode for Blog Posts, with the Template set to Default:

I would like to vertically middle align the images so that they better align with the accompanying text to their right.
(Of course I’d be happy solving this with top-padding or margins)
My attempts at solving with css failed.
