I have a large number of photos in a custom carousel on my homepage. I get major dinged by Google on page load time purely because of the image sizes. Other page speed sites seem OK with the page load, but not google.

I know that the images on my site are resized and there are a number of different image sizes for each image uploaded — presumed that this was for responsive website — and didn’t realize that when I do the custom carousel in Virtue that these little thumbnails are actually the entire big image loading. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to manually put in a smaller image for each item in the carousel? Thanks! for your help.
