I’ve used Pinnacle for some time now but recently decided to give Ascend and the membership plugins a go.
Ascend is quite a bit closer to what I “want” in that although I’m still using a child theme there’s very little to it compared to all of my custom files with Pinnacle. I think this will be easier going forward, less fixing when changes are made to the parent theme!
That said, I’ve got a few quirks I can’t seem to iron out that I’m hoping for help with. Mainly in the woocommerce archive/shop pages.
An example: *Login to see link
One thing I’d like to change here is the placement/format of the category titles. Ideal world, they would be under the icon like they are on pinnacle. Is that possible without a lot of crazy coding? Maybe a little CSS? If it’s not easy to move it under the icon, I wish I could at least extend the overlay box all the way across instead of it being the width of the title and center it. Oh, and increase the opacity of the background color a little because it’s quite hard to read. (This is also an issue on the front page that has a collection of category links that seem to be using the same CSS).
The other thing is that when you hover a product, the button that pops up causes some of them to overlap the products on the next line. I know this is because my products are not all the same height. In an ideal world, I’ll go back at some point and change how my uploaded images are formatted so that they are all uniform (i.e. surround them with a box or some such to “fix” this but right now I’d settle for being able to adjust the padding a little between the rows? How do I accomplish this? Note I’ve changed the add to cart button to a link to the product page. I did the same thing in my Pinnacle theme and didn’t have this issue with the overlap. I tried my own hand at adjusting the spacing and have yet to figure out the magic css elements to adjust. Ascend may have surpassed my meager skills.
The last issue (hopefully) is in the footer. I have a woocommerce search widget there that is unreadable. When I was using pinnacle, the search box was white, the text was grey and the little magnifying glass was on a blue background. I have searched through my child CSS and can find nowhere I was doing that, so I’m unsure what the difference is now? I’ve yet to find any items in the theme options that addresses this formatting?
I hope I haven’t overlooked answers to these questions already asked by others. I did try to find the answers myself. Thanks in advance!
