Don't show products on category page

I’m not sure if this is related to Virtue. What is the best way to only allow sub categories to show on a category page? I don’t want the products to also show. I have selected SHOW SUBCATEGORIES from the options in Woocommerce > Settings > Products > Display for Default category display section which makes sense that it should be the solution but doesn’t seem to.
