No captions for Images on new posts

I’m not sure if this is a WordPress 4.0 issue, but I just updated to 4.0 earlier today, and I noticed that my posts that were drafts had the caption text moved to the Alt Text field. This only happened to stand alone images and not galleries.
When I re-enter a caption, I can see the caption appear on the WP editor “Visual” tab, but as soon as I check the “Text” tab, preview the post, or publish the post, the caption disappears. I’ve also tried to add the [caption] code into the post via the “Text” tab, but as soon as I preview or publish the caption code is removed.
I’ve tried this with drafts and new posts and both have the same result. The weird thing is that on posts that are already published the captions still display.
