Blog_Grid Orderby question

I’m seeing something odd in the sorting of blog postings on my homepage (www.freshfoliodesign.com).

I’m using the Blog_Grid shortcode to display recent posts and it’s set to Orderby date.

The odd thing is how it orders them.

Instead of displaying them like this (from most recent to oldest):

1 2 3
4 5 6

It displays them in a clockwise order:

1 2 3
6 5 4

So, I have two questions. Why does it sort like this? It seems like a non-intuitive way to sort items. And secondly, is there a way to change the way the date sort order displays?
