Kadence Slider Responsive Image Sizing

The problem is if I set the kadence slider setting to Respect Image Aspect Ratio, the image keeps expanding wider/taller than the set Slider Grid Height and Width. I want the image to resize proportionally within the page only when the page gets narrower/mobile size. However, I also want the background behind and on either side of the slider image, to go edge to edge. I guess the problem is using the Full Width setting on yes. But before I made the height ratio active, the width of the imgage itself didn’t go wider than the Slider Grid Width. Can you tell me how to set this up correctly? Maybe some custom CSS to set the background separately? Thanks!
UPDATE: I added a custom style .home-sliderclass {background:#859F3E;} to make a background band go edge to edge.
