Kadence Slider text disappearing after trying to add button

Greetings – in Ascend Premium Kadence slider was working perfect with text fading in ext until I tried to add a button with a link. Then the text on all 6 slides disappeared even though it’s still present in the slider creation interface. Do I have to delete everything and start over? What am I missing here?
Has anyone been able to add a button to a slide that already had animated text over the background image? many thanks – Gene
