I’ve so far not found an easy way to do this. That may well be because one doesn’t exist?

I’ve been trying to find a way to make shorter breadcrumbs while still retaining the title length in the actual categories. I discovered Yoast SEO (which I’m already using) has a built in way to create a separate “Breadcrumbs Title” for categories. Of course that would require me to use their Breadcrumbs instead of the Ascend ones. If I had my first choice, I wish Ascend would pick up the shorter breadcrumb title if it was in use (maybe a future revision, I noticed the Breadcrumb php has a note that it’s ‘due for a rewrite’?). Of course, that’s less likely I suspect. Even if a lot of use Yoast, it’s still someone else’s product.

The more likely wish is some way to override the breadcrumb ‘hook’ and replace it with the ones from Yoast. I know how to go through each template and replace the code for the breadcrumbs but I believe the code to output the breadcrumbs is in many different templates. My preferred route was to override it through my child functions php but so far I’ve not found the right way to do that. Is it possible to get a push in the right direction to output the Yoast breadcrumbs in place of the Ascend ones?

Thanks!

Mark
