Help with text alignment in column

Hello,
I was wondering if ou could help me aligning text in a column.
I have a two-column layout(via shortcode), left column an image and right column a headline and a paragraph. I would like the paragraph to be aligned at the bottom of the image, and I tried using table-cell and vertical-align:bottom, but it did not work, I am not sure i it has to do with the column shortcode.
