mobile menu gone

Just ran update to theme version 4.8.2 and when I checked mobile version the menu and topbar (previously displayed) are now missing. Settings were as follows:
Menus – Mobile and Primary navigation set to same menu
Mobile Header = Off
Topbar Settings: Enable topbar mobile menu layout = Off
In trying to return to previous “look” I have enabled mobile header and enabled topbar mobile menu but the topbar won’t display. I would like both the topbar and the mobile menu to display. It seems like I can have either the topbar or the mobile menu in mobile view. Which settings are compatible to get both in mobile view?
Update: after trying various combinations of settings (one at a time) it seems that the menu setting (mobile menu set to same as primary navigations) is only displaying when I also set mobile header = On which overrides the topbar setting. So… something about the mobile menu display changed with update.
