Update theme

Hi! Thanks in advance for your help. I created my site using a parent theme (not premium.) I sell books on the site. I updated Woocommerce which then triggered an alert that several templates were out of date. It also said that my theme is out of date. I’m using 3.2.7 and 3.3.0 is available. So, my question is what to do! If I update the theme, do I lose any changes I have made via basic CSS code? I have only done small things like changed the way the header looked, added Adsense code, and maybe a few other things. I’m just not sure what happens if I update the theme which Woocommerce is encouraging me to do so that it works properly. Long-term. what would be the best thing to do?
