recaptcha on Contact Form 7 plugin

It seems the recaptcha always causes an error message, try again, circled by orange line that indicates possible spam. When I remove the recaptcha, forms submit successfully. Seems others have had this problem. they assume it’s a theme problem interfacing. I didn’t install the Kadence Recaptcha. Should I? Do you have a tutorial on using it within Contact Form 7. I am using Ascend theme.
Here’s what someone did to correct the problem:
“I have worked around the problem using plugin Contact Form 7 Captcha by 247wd and adding the tag [cf7sr-simple-recaptcha] to my contact forms.”
Have no idea what they are referring to.
