Slider Image too large

Hi,
I read your document about image sizes to use. 1600 x 1600 minimum….3000 x 300 max.
Post images are working just fine. Featured slider images too large. Is there a fix for this?
I have played around with the sizing of the slider in Theme Options. I am using a slide size of 400 height and 1400 width.
If the slide grabs the image and centers it that’s okay. I can crop the image differently. But if here is a better fix, I’d appreciate your input.
