Slider Pro text box width

Hello,
I have put some text on an image in the slider and would like to control the width. I have tried using <div style=”max-width:900px”>some text here</div> and although it looks fine in editing, it doesn’t work when viewing the slide or in live preview. I have not found a way to control this. Is there a way I can do it?
I don’t have a link I can share. The text goes all the way across the picture and I’d like it to wrap around at a specified point.
