Custom post/featured image

Good afternoon,
I just changed a website template to Virtue (looks much better now!), but I’m having an issue with custom posts not showing featured image for an event calendar (Espresso Event calendar). According to the plugin author, the single page posts are custom post pages, and this feature must be activated through the theme. I have checked the Virtue blog options, and “image” is selected. Is there a way to force this to show the featured image through the theme settings?
