split image block alignment

how do i make the images in two split image blocks (image in one left and one right) join at the corners?
i can get them to line up vertically but don’t seem to be able to remove the space between the blocks.
probably not looking in the right place, again… :-&
also, can i add an icon for the list block, the client wants their own icon.
