Revolution Slider – safe to delete?

I’m also getting the prompts to upgrade/purchase the Revolution Slider. So if the theme dropped support for this, are you adding it back again? I’m confused by some of the recent forum posts about it. I’d like to just go ahead and delete the plugin – if I do will this affect the next theme update?
