Adding a link to icon shortcode?

Hi there,
I wondered if you could tell me of a way that I can add a link to the icon shortcode, when used on a page? I prefer just using the icons rather than icon boxes (which do have a link feature), as I think they look neater for the effect I’m going for.
Currently, one of the shortcodes I have is:
[icon color=”#ffffff” background=”#000000″ icon=”icon-facebook” size=”32px” style=”circle”]
Where would I place a link, to a Facebook page for instance, in that shortcode? Or is that only possible with icon boxes?
