Blog Excerpts not showing on Homepage

Hi, on Virtue -> Homepage I cannot make the 40 words of blog content show as excerpt in Virtue…
Should’t it take automatically the first 40 words of the content and show on the Homepage (I enabled Latest Blog Posts and set it to 40 words excerpt length)..
any idea why it is not showing?
