Enable Comments in Kadence theme

Sorry if I am missing something obvious, but I can’t seem to enable post comments in a new Kadence theme installation. Comments are enabled in WordPress settings, as well as in Customizing ▸ Blog Posts > Single Post Layout, and also in the individual post settings. This is a new website and I have only 2 plugins enabled: Kadence Blocks – Gutenberg Blocks for Page Builder Features and Kadence Starter Templates.
