Icon list won’t render 1/2 fraction

Hello,
I’m trying to use ½ to show a stacked 1/2 fraction in an icon list. When I edit HTML and add this and then click back to edit visually it gives me an “invalid content” error and when I refresh it goes back to 59-1/2 which is not how I want it to render. Everywhere else on the site in normal text the ½ renders as expected giving me a proper stacked fraction. Is there a problem using special characters in an icon list?

The fraction is in bullet 2: “After-tax contributions”
For reference I need the fraction to display like it does here: *Login to see link
In the text under the “Distribution of Your 401(k) Savings”.
