Align menu at the bottom of header

Hi! I am trying to make the menu in a “shrink but sticky” header aligned at the bottom of the header. But the sliding controllers in the theme settings don’t seem to have any effect at all. When I try to add some CSS to add some padding, the menu is moved down, but it messes up the slider underneath (moves it sideways).

Here’s a screenshot:

I’ve made the background of the menu elements gray just to see what’s happening. Basically, I just want to align the text at the bottom of these “gray boxes” without moving the boxes. I’ve tried for 2h now, but no matter what I do, the text always seems to stay vertically centered. I’m out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated!
