Product shows default sidebar

Hi,
I’ve created a custom sidebar called ‘product’ and have set this as the default sidebar for products in the theme options.
However, when I view a product the default sidebar is shown instead of the product-sidebar.
How can I make the theme use the product-sidebar for products?
