WP Gallery Slideshow Type not appearing

When using the regular Twenty Ten Theme while using JetPack, I can create a gallery from the Add Media button and then I get a “Type” option to change the gallery to a slideshow:
However, when I switch to the Virtue Premium theme, this option disappears:
This option is missing whether I have the related Virtue theme slider plugins (Kadence, Cyclone, Revolution) turned on OR off. So they don’t seem to be the problem. I also turned off SiteOrigin Page Builder to see if that made a difference. It does not. So it seems to be something inherent to the theme itself.
We already use this feature extensively for the content on our site, and most of our editors are used to using it, so I don’t want it to disappear if I switch to the Virtue Premium theme.
