how to get the portfolio grid to only link to lightbox

hello
i am creating a portfolio grid, and i was wondering if there was a way to get portfolio items to only link to the lightbox. i want the images to be sortable, that is why i am using a portfolio grid, but i dont want it to link to a page.
am i going about this the right way? if not, can you recommend another direction?
