Problem with Update

Clicked the update button in WP for Kadence.
Now it is stuck in a permanent state of: “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”
Well … it has been a heck of a lot longer than a minute … and that is the only thing I see when I try to log-in to my admin panel.
I am completely locked out.
What can be done …?
