Updated slider – extends beyond container

After updating the slider (or Virtue) this morning the slider on my home page now extends from one side of the screen to the other. Before it was within the container.
When I reload the page there is a correct sized rectangular block which is white but then the block snaps to the sides of the display.
Did the usual turning off of all plugins, except rev slider of course, and got same, undesirable results.
Ideas?
