By default enabled captions for galleries cannot be set to false at all

I am still on version 3.0.8 but in the Changelog there is no report about this, so I am pretty sure that this bug is still valid:
I changed the default settings for galleries under Theme Options > Misc Settings and enabled:
“Show captions on Virtue Galleries – This sets the defualt(sic!) caption setting to true.”
But not it is always enabled, even if I manually add “caption=false” like in
[gallery masonry="false" caption="false" columns="5" ids="1154,1153,1152,1151,1150"]
Could this be fixed? I need captions 95% of all cases but in some situations I do not like to display them.
