WooCommerce Variation Descriptions

This might be a silly question, but do the variation descriptions for variable products show anywhere? I’ve set up a variable product with the attributes of size and fragrance, then added the combinations of each size/fragrance. When the visitor selects the different fragrances, the image changes to reflect the correct fragrance but the variation description does not change. Is this normal? If so, does anyone know what the variation description is for?
