Hi

I want to do something quite specific with my home page but I’m not sure how to do it. What I want is to embed a video using the revolution slider on full screen (this should be simple, I know…). Because my logo is fairly square I’ve altered the header space to 130px, which shrinks down on scrolling, but, when the video plays behind the header there is a lot of space I can’t use – especially when smaller screens are taken into consideration (I’ve stuck some pictures here to show you why I’m concerned:

I actually don’t mind if the header isn’t full size (130px) on the home page, or not there at all at first. So I tried taking the header out completely using some code I found elsewhere on this forum ( but it left the 130px space there, just empty. For some reason I don’t get the option to move the slider above the header with either the kadence or revolution sliders.

I think what I would like is for the header to not be there until the visitor starts to scroll, then it could jump straight into being the smaller, sticky version. Would this be really hard to implement? Otherwise, perhaps, on just the home page the header could start out small and stay that way?

Either that, or, can I set up a landing page with just the video which links through to the home page? Can I make two ‘home’ pages – I like the widgety functions of the home page layout. I guess I could reconstruct this using page builder on a regular page but it seems a bit of a faff. Also, would that negatively affect search ratings (or am I just imagining that?).

I know I have the option of not having the slider behind the header, and I will do that if I have to, but I just don’t think it looks as good and I suspect I’d need to be a bit careful about the ratio I use for the video to get it nicely on the remaining screen. Is that true?

Sorry for having a bit of a ramble, I hope this all makes sense.

One other thing, I’ve uploaded the video to Vimeo. It looks fine when played direct from there but awful through the slider. Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong? Sorry, I know that’s not a lot to go on. The image in the files on Flickr is a single image slide, a copy of the final video frame. I have included a screen shot of the same part of the video so you can see the difference.

Thanks for your help

Danielle
