Empty box with hover on Home page

Hi, I created my first blog post today and enabled the “latest blog post” in home page layout manager but then it seems that there is a spacing with a single box that appeared above the “latest blog post” feature. When I go on that space, there seemed to be a box on far left in a hover colour. Can’t figure out what it is and how to remove it. please help.
