can't get lightbox to work

Hi,
I have theme lightbox turned on in theme options. But still I can’t get it to work in my products/shop.
I know I’m supposed to used the product gallery for displaying multiple images but I have made “galleries” both ways (product gallery & add media – add gallery). Lightbox works in neither. I really like the way this gallery works with captions visible (*Login to see link – created the non-recommended way, as opposed to this (*Login to see link which is a product gallery. In the second one, the additional images are all clumped together & there are no captions.
So two issues really…best way to great a gallery like the first example
And get lightbox working?
