Can't set parent page for portfolio projects

Hi, I have created some portfolio items and created portfolio grid pages. But I can’t get the portfolios to appear on the grid page/ parent page. When I go in to edit the portfolio items/projects there is not option to choose a parent page (I have Virtue Premium) – I can see it says ‘choose portfolio parent page’ but there is nowhere to click and there are no options in that field. Please help, this is driving me insane.
