Theme update issues – my site crashes

Hi,

I’ve spent the last several hours restoring my site from a backup, and now I’m restoring it again.

Earlier I had a plugin and a theme update to deal with. I did one successfully then attempted the other, although afterwards I couldn’t remember which I did first. All appeared OK, but when I went to check my site, I got a completely white page. On trying to re-access the admin page, I had the same problem – a white page and no access in any way. After trying to scour the internet to resolve this, I decided to restore for the first time from my paid backup. It was a little problematic, but I finally got things running and was able to access my site again.

Having gone to an earlier restore point, I had to update a couple of the plugins, and was also prompted to update the Virtue theme. The plugins went smoothly, and I checked that all was functioning correctly after each update. However, when I updated the Virtue theme, I got the same problem and lost all access.

I’m now repeating the restore, and can hopefully get back in once it completes. I am reluctant, though, to try and update the theme again.

Any suggestions as to what the problem may be and how I can resolve it?
