    Hello

I am trying to add a side menu to my site, and I have my sample page here

Can you help me find out why it is ignoring the default css? I tried adding the same widget to the sidebar (as opposed to a column) and it worked fine.

Also, is there a way to hide the sub items in a dropdown instead of just having them all listed out?

    Thank you in advance.

This is because the custom 404 page is not a redirect. The custom 404 page simply pulls the page content from the page that you’ve assigned.

A redirect would not be optimal. Think of a scenario when a user accidentally mistypes an address. Rather than the default 404 page, the user would be redirected to a totally new page without any way to see where they went wrong. A typical 404 still uses the mistyped URL, so the customer can see where they went wrong when typing it and hopefully find their way to the correct url.

If a customer were to be brought to a brand new page, then they would have no indication of what went wrong, and they may not be able to find the page at all.

Hopefully that makes more sense. Just know that a 404 is not meant to be a redirect. Rather it is it’s own entity that only takes on the styling of the page that you assign.

I understand you logic and rationale for not using my home page as the custom 404 page. I also grasp your point about 404 errors and redirection however I am still perplexed why when one sets up a custom 404 page in Pinnacle Pro the theme does not redirect to that chosen page/URL???

    Hey Brandi,

The plugin is meant to be super simple at the moment, and documentation is not available yet. There are a few features Ben wants to add before we put together the docs.

If there are any particular questions you’d like answered, we’ll be happy to help here.

As for the shortcode, you can use this to place it on specific pages:
    [kadence_simple_share]

Ben will look into adding the option to unhook those when products and portfolio posts are off.

Let me know if this is helpful, and if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask!

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Ok, we need to make something clear. Just because your showing a custom 404 page. That doesn’t mean that your not having a 404 error. The page content that is shown for 404 doesn’t matter. If any link takes someone to a page that doesn’t exist it’s a 404. The themes custom 404 allows you to define the contnet of the 404 page. It’s not a redirect to some other page is’t there to define the content. You wouldn’t every want to show the home page content here because you need to alert the user that they are on 404 page. So using the theme options you would select a page where you have defined custom 404 content.

If you choose to redirect someone who lands on a 404 page (very very bad idea as it’s confusing to anyone) that doesn’t mean you don’t have 404 errors. It only means your redirecting to another url.

Google will always see the 404 error because thats in the http response. Even if you redirect once that response is shown it doesn’t mean the 404 link is not a link to a 404 page.

Does that help explain? The only way to fix 404 errors is to fix all your links.

    Hello Team Kadence!

I have 2 questions about the new KT Share plugin (I searched but didn’t find the answer).

Where would I find the docs for using KT Share? I’m interested in a shortcode to place it only some pages, not all.
I am not using Woocommerce so I would like to remove the box that says Enable for Products. Is there a filter that can do this? Or can this written to filter using the theme extensions? So if the portfolio is disabled, the option for Enable for Portfolio Posts would not show?

I tried to copy some of the filters I had already created and replace the ids with ids from the plugin but I couldn’t seem to find the correct id to modify it. Thank you!

    Ok

I have performed a live test on Google chrome Version 53.0.2785.116 (64-bit) On Mac Mavericks 10.95 and typed in my URL to a page that I know does not exist. The designated 404 page does not come up. Under Theme extensions I have selected custom 404 page ON & under the Choose a 404 page option I have selected my home page URL form the drop down menu and it is not working. Is there another option or setting etc I am missing??? In the meantime I have am using a plug in to handle the 404 situation however I have performed live testing with all pug ins off and still no go. I am at a loss here ; )

I suppose it would depend on how old the cache is. If it’s loading your current site with the premium theme, than the cache isn’t old enough to redirect to your old 404 page.

    1. How do you want that background image to appear? If you can provide some more details about what you’re after, then I’ll gladly help get it looking the way you want.

    2. Is this from the backend or the front end? I’m seeing page builder rows setup on your site in chrome. Are you missing the page builder editor??

It looks like you’ve turned off the page title for each of those pages. Try going into the page edit screens for each post and set “Hide Page Title” to Show and let me know if that makes a difference.

    Hello Jerry,

    1. I’m not sure what slider you’re talking about. You could place a slider into a page’s content area in your text editor using shortcode. Can you be a bit more specific about which slider you’re wanting to do this with?

    2. You could do this using Page Builder or the column shortcode. With the shortcode, you would simply add the slider shortcode to the “Add Content Here” area. Using page builder, you would place a visual editor widget into a page builder spot. Or you could place the slider widget into the page builder spot.

    Hopefully this helps!

Have you tried using the “Fullwidth Stretched” option in page builder? That will force the image to stretch across the display no matter what size screen the user is on.

Ok, I was thinking along those lines already Ben thank you. I am still confused about this though perhaps you could shed some light on this. If Google is looking at old cached information (I think you are right) should not the 404 page that I assigned in Pinnacle still be directing to the page I assigned in Pinnacle Pro hence no error messages in web master tools? It is a little confusing ; )

P.S I almost forgot, I have a site map up and running with Google web master tools,

    Yes Kevin,

Thanks for your concern, It was figured out well.

And, I’ve been trying to create images on page to be full width for nicer presentation while scroll, however unable to execute that neither by original page template option selector to “full width” nor using SiteOrigin Page Builder plugin option of image to “Fullwidth”.

    Appreciate for your support.

    Regard,
    Zay

    Hello
I have been using Virtue Premium for a long time now and am very happy with it. I recently created a new website for a school charity using Virtue free (french) as there is no budget and have unfortunately had a couple of problems. I keep having a situation whereby I have to reinstall the theme as it would not connect to the server, but also I have noticed that the widgets keep resetting – all footers, sidebar etc are empty with what should be there in the deactivated section on the left. What is the reason for this as it is really annoying. Also this morning the home page slider is missing, and now I can’t connect again…
    the site is apldarnet.fr
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Zoe

    Hey,
Your misunderstanding what is controlled by the theme and what is controlled by the plugin woocommerce. The theme doesn’t determine what content is on the my-account page because that is a woocommerce page. NOT a theme page, the theme has nothing to do with it’s options or output.

You can see here is the docs for woocommerce: https://docs.woocommerce.com/documentation/plugins/woocommerce/

You would need to change how that plugin outputs for the woocommerce my-account page.

You can do this through your own custom coding but the theme can’t do this for you as it’s not a theme page.

    Hey Kevin,

Thanks for the reply. Here is a link to the contact page: http://luxnel.com/en/contact-us/. Basically the header doesn’t show at all and same problem with the About the company page: http://luxnel.com/en/staff/.
