I have tried looking through all the options but i can’t seem to find a setting which allows me to stack the sidebar on top of the content in mobile and tablet view instead of defaulting to the bottom. Like the option in the footer column “collapse left to right”.

Maybe i am missing a setting somewhere?

    Hi Paulo,

Thank you for reaching out to us and apologies for the delayed reply.

I’ve tried on my test site if the pencil icon is working, here, please watch: https://share.getcloudapp.com/2NumgYJO

As you can see, I tested the pencil icons, not just in the footer area but also in the header section and they are all working as intended.

To further assist you, can you please send us the URL of the site you’re working on along with the screen recording of the issue? You can send them privately by enabling the “Set as private reply” option before submitting your reply.

    Cheers,
    Dane

    Good Morning

I’m training the creation of a website and for this I created a subdomain. I’m using the kadence theme and the real estate template

I am in the Area of Footer Layout but I am experiencing the following problem:

If I click on the pencil corresponding to the general element the configuration options appear, however if I click on the pencils corresponding to widgets 3 , widgets 1, widgets 4 or 2 nothing appears. Already if I click on social or copyright appear the change options.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi,
    Håvard Gerhardsen

I want to be clear: “You say Kadence will not move to FSE for at least 1 year” is not accurate. I hope to have an FSE option that I am satisfied with much sooner. However, I do not think moving to FSE is in some way “better” it’s just different and Kadence will not “move to FSE” just allow it in other ways. Also to be clear you can build the header and footer in Gutenberg with Kadence, you do not need to wait on that if you want to do it. An example is the footer on this page which is built in Gutenberg and Kadence.

By dynamic, I am not talking about simply exposing fields from ACF, you can do that without issue in Kadence as well. Instead I’m talking about assigning layouts based on categories, and changing layouts of content without having to manually manipulate or build template files. A simple example is that with Kadence you can enable a sidebar and on a post by post basis disable it. With FSE instead of a setting applied dynamically, you need to edit the templates. I hope that makes sense.

I would like to see a block editor for any post inside customizer as we have for header/footer builder. A body builder would be awesome! Divi has that on post edit page, but not integrated with Gutenberg.

    Hi Jan Mark,

I checked the page and saw the script added multiple times.

You can add the script in Page Editor > Kadence Blocks Controls > Page Scripts > Footer. Here’s a screen recording: https://share.getcloudapp.com/2NumeQn2

Otherwise, add the script sitewide in Customizer > Custom Scripts > Footer. You can do that since you have the Kadence Pro plugin:
    https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/knowledge-base/pro-addon/how-to-add-scripts-in-header-footer/

I hope this helps and let us know if you need further assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Jim,

    Thank you for writing.

You can change the copyright font color in Customizer > Footer > Footer Copyright HTML > Design tab under the Font setting. Here’s a screen recording: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Z4uAN1pl

I hope this helps and let us know if you need help with anything else.

    Kind regards,

My site background color is very light. Somehow, the default text color of the copyright widget in the footer is white. That makes it almost invisible. In “Design”, there is not text color option.

How do I change the copyright widget’s text color?

    Thanks,
    Jim

Thanks for the screen recording, Karla! That helped a lot. I turned the alpha channel to transparent on the footer background and on the contained widgets. The footer now displays the site background. Problem fixed.

(…and now I may change it to something else…)

    Many thanks,
    Jim

    Hi, Jim!

Thank you for reaching out to us and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

The whole footer’s background color can be set in Customizer > Footer > Design tab > Footer Background option. However, please note that each footer row also has this option. If you want them to be transparent, you can click the “Reset” icon at the left side of the option name.

    Here’s a screen recording for your reference – https://share.getcloudapp.com/6quzoe2Z.

I hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

Dear Overworked and Underpaid Support Engineers,

From what I can gather from perusing CSS, I think my footer is currently using a text color from my palette. I would prefer that it use another palette color. I don’t have Kadence Pro. I’ve tried for a few days to fix this with no luck including searching the Kadence forum all day today and trying various things. (Note to self: it better not be a caching problem, because I’ve turned it *all* off on the site and I’m using Firefox’s web tools with HTML caching disabled…)

What CSS should I place in “Additional CSS” to set the background color of the site’s footer site-wide?

    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,

You can add try adding this javascript code in the footer:

    https://pastebin.com/YsVGLRKZ

Here’s how you can add a custom script if you have Kadence Pro: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/knowledge-base/pro-addon/how-to-add-scripts-in-header-footer/

    See if that works.

    Hi Stefan,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

If you are using a page builder, then most likely content would have to be converted manually to blocks. You would be losing any theme related content though (like header, footer, etc..) when you switch to a different theme.

Overall, we would recommend setting up a staging website as the first step for the change you’ll do. It’s slower, but, “Never learn live.” is our motto. This gives you time to get comfortable leaving your current builder and learning to lean on WordPress’s block builder(Gutenberg). We have the Kadence Blocks plugin to extend Gutenberg and give you additional content blocks you can use in building your pages.

The biggest obstacle is generally understanding the blocks and what they can do. They become your layout rather than the template layout provided by a page builder. You will live in the customizer and the page/post options when editing pages making the switch.

Here are resources that can help you get started:

    Hi Karla~
Thanks for the reply. Right, I do understand about not editing the parent theme at all… I have created a child theme of Virtue Premium (paid version). I think the part of your answer that resolves this question is “you can go to Theme Options > Header and Footer Scripts and add the codes there – https://share.getcloudapp.com/Z4uA7wk0”

In the end, the plugin seemed to add the code automatically and it is working fine, although “they” said to add a certain chunk of code “…just before the closing body tag” and so, I was confused about how to proceed. Luckily, it’s done now!

Thanks for the info… it could come in handy for others as well, I’m sure.

    Hi, Nantz!

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

“I still don’t know how to access a page’s full html code though… in Virtue, all I see are blocks that don’t include the page’s basic infrastructure, or php files via ftp. Of course I cans see the html via Developer in the Chrome browser, but can’t find editing access.”

Please could you specify which part you want to edit and for what purpose? Typically, it is not recommended to edit theme files. If you need to, it is better to use a child theme and do the override there. The reason for this is that if you edit directly on the parent theme, the changes will be gone once you update to its latest version.

    Here’s our post regarding this – https://www.kadencewp.com/child-themes/.

On the other hand, if you want to add scripts to the header or body tag and you’re using the Virtue Premium theme, you can go to Theme Options > Header and Footer Scripts and add the codes there – https://share.getcloudapp.com/Z4uA7wk0.

If you are using the free version of the theme, you can add custom code snippets using third-party plugins like Insert Headers and Footers or Code Snippets.

I hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

    Regards,
    Karla

    Hi Team,
after updating to WP 6.0 no content appears on any page.
Instead there is: “It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.”
Only Header and Footer are still working.

With WP 5.9 there was no problem.

If I switch back to Twenty Twenty-Two content is back.

In the Debug Log there is this entry:
[28-Jun-2022 21:55:00 UTC] PHP Warning: First parameter must either be an object or the name of an existing class in /home/wp/disk/wordpress/wp-content/themes/kadence/template-parts/content/archive_header.php on line 13

But I don´t think that is the reason?

    Any Ideas?

Will be grateful for any advice.
    Thanks
    Carsten

    Hello,

I have a problem with color switch buttons. Icons don’t show up, just a small square where icons should be. I tried turning on the floating switch, adding switch in header and footer, but it is always the same. Icons do not show.

    Can someone help me please?

Here is the link to the page. Color Switch is in the footer.

    Thank you.
