Topic: Updating theme 2.4.8 > 2.4.9
First of all, thanks for creating this easy-to-work-with theme! I’ve made a pretty good looking website (in my opinion) in 1 day, and I’m new to WordPress.
I currently have version 2.4.8 installed. But there is an update to version 2.4.9.
However, I made a complete website already, and I don’t want to risk losing it. The website is quite easy though. The main page contains a slider, carousel, etc. (made with page builder). And the only other 2 pages are with blog posts. But with many images, and I changed quite a few settings using the dashboard.
1) Is there a way to make an entire back-up of the complete website? Does this mean copying the entire folder containing the website, and making a back-up of the database?
It also says; Please Note: “Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications.”
2) When is something a customization? When I am going to change CSS files, or when I make page lay-outs with page builder?
I didn’t make any changes to CSS files or any other files of the website, but I just used the options in the theme. Do I have a risk of losing some of the things I made on the website?3) Can you recommend using a child theme? I’ve already made an entire website. Can I make a child theme using the current website?
Thanks for the help

July 19, 2014 at 6:21 pm #13344No, virtue toolkit is only for free version not premium. Just click the virtue shortcodes button when editing page, right next to the add media button.

In forum: Virtue ThemeFor this website, I switched from Photocrati to Virtue Theme and everything was working fine, except the page that display events generated by “The Events Calendar PRO” plugin from Modern Tribe. The page title was showing Not Found as the Page Title.
I recreated the page, uninstalled and installed the plugin, and I could see the page title but not the contents (events).
So I cleared cache and now it shows the title as Not Found again. Here is the link: *Login to see link

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Star ratings in post preview
July 19, 2014 at 2:47 pm #13321Ok you would need to have a plugin for this. WordPress doesn’t have a star rating system built in for posts… Or any rating built in to post for that matter.
So I see your using: https://wordpress.org/plugins/yet-another-stars-rating/
What you would need to do is ask the plugin developers for the right shortcode of php script that you can add to the blog loop so it shows on your category pages. You would add the script to the templates/content.php file in the theme. Probably at line 175.

July 19, 2014 at 2:37 pm #13320You can change page builder margins in the page builder settings. Go to settings > page builder.
The image-menu margin can be adjusted gobally with this css:
.infobanner { margin: 15px 0; }Ben

Hi,
I’ve tried searching and have had no luck finding any posts with what I need. Also, I am very new to wordpress so please be patient. I do have some coding background if I need to alter files.
I want to have the star ratings show in the post preview area. Basically I have pages that are essentially just categories. It lists all posts within the “Ontario” category. On this page I want the star rating to show for each of the posts beside said post, this way people can see which of the posts has the highest rating before entering the post.

Thanks in advance for any help!
In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: A second "icon menu" on the front page?
Hi again,
Ok, after playing around with it for a little while I love the pagebuilder stuff! However, is there a way of easily altering the bottom margin for all the rows? Currently it appears that it defaults at 30px, which is FAR too deep for my purposes, I’d like it at 5px really. I’ve managed to track down the div’s for the rows and alter them individually myself but I was wondering if there was an easier way of doing it?
Also, for things like the image-menu, the pagebuilder gives each item it’s own top and bottom margins WITHIN the div, plus the div’s own bottom-margin, which makes the spacing even larger… again, is there an easy way to adjust this without rootling through the css and adjusting everything individually by hand?
Thanks

Hi Hannah,
Thanks for telling me about pagebuilder – it looks like a great tool! However, I don’t seem to be having much luck with the tutorial you’ve linked to. I did the first three parts (create a page / page display settings / theme options) but when I previewed my site nothing had changed from how I had it before… have I missed something vital?
EDIT – I take all that back, evidently I missed something vital as it’s working now! Thanks!

In forum: Virtue ThemeHi Ben,
I’m using the iconbox shortcodes for my contact page, and can’t figure out how to make the target=”_blank” work so that the link opens in a new tab. Is there a workaround for this? here is the shortcode for one module.
[iconbox icon=”icon-mail” iconsize=”48px” link=”mailto:[email protected]” color=”#444444″ background=”trasparent” hcolor=”#ffffff” hbackground=”#00aeff”]<h4>”E” mail</h4><p>Email me with any inquiries including but not limited to: prints, originals, commissions, collabs, stimulating conversation, or my family’s chili recipe. </p>[/iconbox]
I downloaded the “virtue toolkit” as a plugin, but there was a fatal error when trying to activate it, so it’s unusable to me.
Secondly, adding my custom icons to the iconbox seems a bit above my head, I saw in a previous thread that one has to create a font?
Thanks so much!

Hey,
thanks for your answer. In that tutorial I see at time 3:28 the Media Library with lots of nice little pictures to make the page-builder with. Can I get them anywhere from the theme or must I create them my myself?

In forum: Virtue ThemeJuly 18, 2014 at 9:16 am #13270Ok just tested this plugin will do it:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/ce-wp-menu-per-page/As for the logo, my best guess is using css to switch, not really a standard thing to switch logos on the same domain.
BenIn forum: Virtue ThemeHi Ben,
We want to build a site that contains a number of similar subsites. We want to give each a similar style, but different logo.
In reply to your Menu per pages plugin. I have tried this. What happens is that all nav menus, so the primary, secondary, and also the icon menu in the topbar get replaced with the same custom menu. I only want the secondary menu replaced….
Hope you can help me out.
Thanks, Mark.
In forum: Virtue ThemeJuly 18, 2014 at 8:43 am #13267Well option 4 adds a widget are to the right. The logo stays the same.
Just curious? Why a different logo pre page?
