Topic: Add Category in Menu
Hello,
sorry I write a new topic for this, because the Topic where I asked before is shown as resolved, it’s perhaps why you don’t answer.I want to add product categories in my secondary menu. And if I remember well, a few months ago when I set up the website this did work fine, but now if I want to add product categories in a menu, it has disappeared.
I’ve looked in your tutorial and see that there are a few more options like: product categories (!), posts, porfolio, products,…. But I only can choose between Pages, Links and Category, and the Category here is the Post Categories. So not the Product Category I need.
Can you help me, please? In forum: Virtue ThemeShortly after upgrading from the free theme to the premium theme I noticed my shared host site often getting very sluggish and failing to properly serve the pages, they would sometimes be half drawn and missing elements. Investigating in cPanel it seems that the CPU and open processes are often maxing out resulting in it being clamped by cPanel so that the page loads fail.
Researching the issue I came across suggestions to turn off file checking and backups in iThemes Security plugin. I did that, but then I noticed it spiking again and gagging the site. It’s weird because it’s not all the time. Most of the time the site is pretty snappy, but then once in a while something goes into overdrive and maxes out the CPU resulting in failed page loads.
I installed the P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) plugin (which is pretty cool BTW). It showed that much of the page load time was being eaten up by all the new slider plugins and page builder, which I thought was strange because though I had activated them when installing the theme, I wasn’t using any of the new sliders yet or the page builder. I don’t know if those are what are causing the periodic CPU max load or not but I’ve turned them all off for now and will post further results as I continue to investigate to see if it continues to periodically max out.
Has anyone else run into such max CPU use on a shared host?

The header shrinks as you scroll down. on the home page you have a slider above the header so it’s already scrolled down and shrunk. If you don’t like the effect use the standard header? it doesn’t shrink then you can set it to be one size.
2. The shadow is from the revolution slider. Just turn it off in the plugin settings.
3. email me a login and I’ll sort your my account page.

But it does not give the same big space when displayed on the home page.
Although when scrolled up, the space of the primary menu on other pages becomes the same as that of home page. And there seems overlap on the topbar menu on the home page.
The color of topbar menu on the home page is darker than that on the other pages.
Anything you can think of?All worked as you mentioned except I am still having problems with woocommerce(6 and 9)
As for 6, I set up the account page to login page (but it still shows my account page with cart picture that says we should not remove it).
There is nothing else to set up under woocommerce/setting/account except end points and registration option. As for 9, i don’t see woocommerce shotcode nor ssl stuff you mentioned anywhere in my wp.
I just updated woocommerce, but I think something is missing here?Thank you!

I don’t recommend because you are going to loose all the changes once you update the theme and using a plugin like contact form 7 is seriously faster then editing a theme file. It’s very very easy to set up and already styled for this theme.

July 16, 2014 at 11:56 am #131141, yes don’t use wp commerce.
2, yes compatible.
3. Make the height of your header larger in the theme options > main settings. Bottom of the page. The reason your having the issue is because of the code to force the icons above the header. Just need to make the height larger so when it shrinks it doesn’t cut off the icons. That or don’t use the shrink header.4. Deactiavte the plugin.
5. The “home page shouldn’t be an extension of the domain, it should just be the domain. Did you set your home page up in the wordpress settings > reading.
6. Is the my account page set up in the woocommerce settings?
7. Yes you deactivate to remove wp commerce
8. Not a theme plugin, leave deactivated.
9. Did you set up the page with the woocommerce shortcode and set it in the woocommerce settings? Did you make sure to NOT click the tag that forces the page to load with ssl?

July 16, 2014 at 11:40 am #13110If you want the search to only show products, you can use the woocommerce search and it will show the products in a grid like the shop page. Just switch out the search widget with the woocommerce search widget using the topbar widget area.

In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Search Pages
I was doing some checking on the site. ( http://www.baywatcharms.com ). I then decided to see how well the search was working, and started checking a couple different areas. I searched “glock” on the site. This is the page ( *Login to see link ). You see how the page looks. Things are not aligned properly, etc. I realize that when you do a search that you might get this kind of thing. But is there some way that I am able to make it look better? I know some of it can be done with css, but I would have to search all possible “terms” and do it for each search page. Just thought that there may be an easier way that you might know about?

ok, with woocommmerce updated, and wp-ecommerce deactivated,
I have added my account, deleted login from menu. Now when I click “my account”, I get “page not found”.
and when I click “register”, I get login page, and when I entered my username on my account(like before when I did on login page), I am directed to wp dashboard(like before, only this time through register), again.I am doing something wrong….

1) Ok, if so, I think i downloaded and installed woocommerce.
so you are recommending woocommerce, not wp-ecommerce then?
Since I am using wp, I thought it would be better to use wp-ecommerce?
And that means login and logout page are from wp-ecommmerce?2) And about hosting, I have an option to upgrade php version.
I was told to check with you(my theme company) if it is ok(compatible, supporting) to upgrade php version on my web hosting.3) the top part of the primary menu is cut, or overlapped with top menu, only on the home page.
where to fix that spacing problem?Thank you!!!

July 16, 2014 at 9:59 am #13074We are working on a tutorial, Should be out this week. The simple explanation though is it’s the revolution slider on the home page. When you set it up in the theme options you can see that there is a button to allow you to place the slider above the header. Just have to turn that one. The Slider settings are full with and full height turned on. You can get an example that you can import into the revolution slider here in the demo content. Just extract the zip file and you will see 3 revolution slider exports. One is the full screen.

July 16, 2014 at 9:50 am #13072“in the documentation it clearly shows that there is supposed to be some kind of design, which shows address, and all of that stuff, its just not there!”
Sorry no the contact template doesn’t add your address or the icons like this: http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/contact-us/
That is all done in the page content and the demo was just that a demo of what you can do using the themes “virtue shortcodes”. I simply added two columns and put an icon and text in each.

July 16, 2014 at 9:45 am #13070Hey,
woocommerce wasn’t automatic you have to download and install. And you shouldn’t use wp commerce and woocmmerce together that would cause a lot of conflicts. Need to remove wp commerce.
In the menu just add the woocommerce “my-account” page for you login page, that will keep the users on the my account page once they login.Woocommerce doesn’t add a login logout page, just a my account page.
Yes put css in the theme options, yes it will be there when you update.
