Topic: sticky post
Hi,
I have a problem with posts number appearing on the home page. After making one of my old post a “sticky post” (with default Gutenberg setting) it has appeared on the main page as it should, but now there are 4 posts there. There should be only 3, beacuse I have decided to have only 3 posts in 3 columns in Theme options > Home page. Could you please take a look whether “sticky post” breaks sth in theme settings?
In forum: Membership ForumsIn forum: Kadence ThemeNovember 12, 2020 at 5:11 pm #260500Hello Kadence Team,
I have created a custom blog page, and designed the custom post layouts with Kadence block, and set it on my home page. Whenever I click on a category or tag, it takes me to the default “Posts Archive Page”. I want all my links to be displayed as per my custom design.
Please for your kind advice. Thanks
In forum: Kadence ThemeIn reply to: Why switch from Ascend to Kadence theme?
November 12, 2020 at 4:59 pm #260497Hey,
Thanks for your support.Ascend will continue to be supported. 🙂
My new Kadence Theme is a different approach from the ground up. It’s written with a code structure that is more current age for where WordPress is going with all of the changes. WordPress core has changed more in the last couple years than all it’s prior history so this theme is adapting some new ways of building controls as well as supporting PHP 7 and higher which finally could happen this year. The theme makes purposeful decisions to be lighter on page load with fewer options in some areas and more in others. But also a different approach to a lot of options altogether. For example, it has a header builder which is a different experience.
If you are building a new site today I suggest you use Kadence. That isn’t to say you need to go and transfer other sites to it, the work involved with that likely doesn’t justify it. But in terms of the advantages, Kadence has some clear things over Ascend simply because of when the codebase was originally written and what options were available at that time.
The main thing that Kadence will give you is a faster page load. Not to say you can’t get one with Ascend, but there are a lot of structural changes that were made possible in the web at large and in WordPress to make it so Kadence can be faster.
The next thing would be usability in terms of building within the customizer using Gutenberg powered components. It’s a bit easier to create what you want.
I hope that helps,
Ben
Hi there,
I am a new member coming over from Astra, where I liked the option to “Delete previously imported site” during the import.
Is there a similar option in Kadence Theme?
I checked the documentation about “Getting Started With a Starter Template”, but it mentions nothing about that possibility.
It would be much appreciated, as I don’t want to import whole sites, but rather sections I like in different starter sites.I had also intended to ask here whether you would offer the choice between importing a whole site or just one single template (such as, e.g., “About”), but I just found a post by Ben in an Ascend Thread where he said,
Starter templates are our future in new templates and with it there will be options to import a single page or a whole site.
so that’s nice to hear/read. 🙂
I really like what I have seen/tested so far and I am looking forward to working with this theme.
Thanks a lot for any hints concerning my import question.
P.S. 1
If there isn’t such an option, what’s the best practice to quickly change between different starter templates without littering the installation?
Please excuse my ignorance but I am still a WP beginner.
P.S. 2
Following a comment by Adam, I hope there will be many new starter templates in the near future, but, please, without an uneven preference of Elementor templates – Gutenberg templates will hopefully be treated equally (in numbers) 🙂In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Single Portfolio Header Image not displaying
November 12, 2020 at 11:24 am #260481Hi guys
Visitors to the compassionate-cultures.co.uk website (don’t think this affects logged-in Admin user), incur a delay when scrolling down the page past the 4 ‘split content’ blocks on the page. Visiting the site yourself ought to help you see what I mean. There’s inconsistent experience across the 4 blocks.
I’m trying to work out why scrolling past these blocks doesn’t deliver a consistent experience across all four blocks – the screen seems to stay blank on the last of the four blocks for too long. I don’t know whether something in the settings I’m thinking perhaps a Javascript element that’s being blocked or interfered with by one of the settings on Siteground’s SG Optimizer plugin. For instance, I have ‘Defer Render-blocking JS’ ON.
This shows the split content block settings in use [note: cannot set and save a pixel offset value – suspect this is a bug]
This shows the SG Optimizer settings:
What do you suggest I try please?

In forum: Kadence BlocksIn forum: Membership ForumsMy experience with the Full Kadence Membership has been amazing. I’ve been doing some really cool things in conjunction with Elementor. But I’m sort of stuck with what I’ve een trying to do with the Archive Loop.
I have a simple archive loop I edited with Elementor Pro. Just a product image (with an overlay), price and title. That’s it.
The original intention was for the product archives that feature these loops to only display the pure image, without overlay. No price or title, nothing. But that when a customer hovers over the product image, the overlay, price and title appear together at once. And that you can just click anywhere to open the product page.
Through some basic CSS, I’ve managed to make each element appear separately upon hover. Either the title, price or overlay. But I wonder if anyone knows of any way to make them appear together at once, regardless of where with the mouse I am hovering? And that I can click anywhere to open the product page too?
Having said that: adding the title as an option to the Archive Loop Image widget could be cool too, as well as this hover-over feature I’m seeking to enable here *hint hint*

Hello Hannah,
thank you for replay!
I am having trouble using aby of your suggestions. The one using the setting in Settings > Reading is not working as I am using a static page on my home page.
The second suggestion would work, but the “blog post boxes” (don’t know the correct name for them…) looks different when using a shortcode. The look is ok, but it has differrent CSS and I cant get a satisfied result using the shortcode. So is there another way?
Thank you!

In forum: Membership ForumsNovember 11, 2020 at 11:54 am #260435Hey,
Thanks for posting, to translate this block you would need to use the old method of two different pages wherein one page you can set the block settings and the other you can set different settings.I’ll email WPML and see what needs to be done to add read more as a translatable string in the advanced translation editor.

Hi Fredrik,
If you set your homepage as the latest posts page from Settings > Reading then the number of posts will pull from the Blog pages show at most setting in Settings > Reading. Or you can use a shortcode or the post grid/carousel block to display more than 8 posts.
Let me know if you would like more guidance with this!Best,
HannahIn forum: Kadence ThemeNovember 11, 2020 at 9:17 am #260418Hi!
I migrated from OceanWp to Kadence after trying Astra, Framework, and Hello, and haven’t looked back, but I’ve run into one issue I could use some help with.I use the Discourse forum platform for my community, and my WordPress install is an SSO client of the forum so that all accounts stay synced between the forum and my site/shop.
I always add a shortcode link to the primary Login page to “Connect your Forum Account,” which syncs everything up on the backend, but I haven’t found a way to neatly do that with Kadence’s default pre-My Account login page. Is there something I’m missing, or do I need to create a standalone custom Login page with Elementor?
If that’s the route, do I have the Login link in the header link to the new Login page and then redirect to the Account dashboard? I love the clean look of the default and how logging out of your account takes you back to the default Login page, so I hope there’s a solution I just missed (I tried hooks, but there’s no way to add to the existing Login that I found.)
Thanks so much for any guidance/help you can offer!
CJBIn forum: Membership ForumsHey Serban,
Your site is in maintenance mode so I’m unable to see it. Is it the homepage you’re wanting this to apply to? If so, you can make your css specific to your homepage by changing it to this:.home #content { padding-top: 0; padding-bottom: 0; }If it’s just the blog page that you’re wanting this to not affect then I would need to be able to see your page to determine the best css.
Regards,
