    Topic: Demo Content

    #240161

    Hi quick question

    If my website is running and I want to keep the ascend theme, but change the look and feel to be the same as your magazine demo. If I upload/import the demo content will it overrride everything else I’ve built? i.e. all my content and pages?

    Thanks,
    Lara

    That’s kinda neat. Thanks very much! However, the header isn’t shrinking, though the logo does disappear. The largest I can make my header in this header style is 200px which makes the logo a good deal smaller. That’s probably okay. Here’s my setings:

    Have any idea what I’m missing?

    ETA:

    I like how this is working. Right now, using the Image Menu in the Home Layout tab, I have found a second way so far of using the yarn weight images like these to help people narrow down the site contents to something they can more easily digest. I prefer this one to the way I laid it out on the content page.

    Image Menu

    However, if it’s possible, I’d love to do this with some of your CSS magic.

    The text at the top indicates the weight of the yarn. That’s perfect just as it is.
    The text that’s displaying at the bottom was entered into the description box in list format like this:

    Lace weight / 20 wpi

    100% sw merino

    800m / 875 yd

    $30

    Could that be made to display in list format slightly below the name, but only when hovering over the image?

    In your edit page under Page Layout Options you should see an option to enable a sidebar.
    Sorry to steer you wrong with the shortcode! I copied it from woocommerce documentation but perhaps copied the wrong one? Glad you were able to make it work!
    As for image and text, would it work for you to use the row layout block and add your image in one column and text in another? Or are you wanting a different look?

    In reply to: problem with the menu

    #240146

    When I looked with my mobile phone, I did not see any such problem.

    That means that Google isn’t able to gather all the styles for your site. This can happen then go away; it really can depend on a few variables; mostly, it’s that the Google mobile tester has had this problem for years, and they haven’t fixed it. There are lots of reports of it online. One way to make it more consistently download your content is to speed up your page load. Here is an image showing the notice of “Page load issues,” which means that Google wasn’t able to render all the styles.

    2. You can add this css. The map is not clearing the float because iframe maps are loaded in an absolute position.

    @media (max-width: 767px) {
        #kad-banner {
            z-index: 1000;
            position: relative;
        }
    }

    Working on my front page, and reading the options that are available with Kadence Blocks and Slider, I find I don’t care for my header.

    http://www.yarn.rehab

    In it, there’s a large logo, the usual menu, a search box, and a site-wide message. I’d like to experiment with the “Basic, with shrink for sticky”, but only if there’s a way to drop the logo from the shrink. Can that be done? If not, would it make sense to put the logo somewhere else?

    #240125

    Sorry, try this instead:

    .page-id-629 .kad-wp-gallery .grid_item {
        margin: 20px;
    }

    Does that work for you?

    Hello
    I’m trying to increase space between images in gallery on the Print page

    I tried this — without luck.
    div#kad-wp-gallery426 .kad-wp-gallery kt-gallery-column-3 {
    padding: 40px;
    }

    Could you please help me?

    Thank you,
    Carrie

    I don’t have user access to view your pages. Can you change my role to admin?
    I won’t make any changes:)

    Hello,

    I have an error message from google webmaster tools when displaying one of my sites.

    He informs me that the clickable elements are too close together, that the content is wider than the screen.
    When I looked with my mobile phone, I did not see any such problem.
    By cons, when I’m on the page “access”, I can not use the mobile menu, it opens but the items are not clickable.
    Maybe the problem comes from there?

    Can you tell me why the menu does not work as it should on all pages?

    THanks. Have a good day

    Sorry, I put the previous in wrong group:

    Hi,
    How can this home page be built in Ascend? I’ll put two images in next message.
    In my version, the background image is a Kadence slider with no texts. The header on home is transparent. So far it works perfectly, but the overlay text blocks and the logo above them is the problem. How can these be placed on the image.
    Or should I use a background image instead, but how can it cover the whole screen?

    Regards,
    Pamela

    Of course, when it is such complicated, then we can stop here. 🙂
    I don’t want to bother you too much with such high level customizing. The intention of my post was, to know if there is an easy way. But it seems more complicated as I thought. 🙁

    But I have to think about it more, because I want to change the linked Blog (https://www.testing-board.com/lasttest-und-performancetest/) also to your theme. And I like the parallax Header at the moment and want to stick with it. And I don’t like to insert the same head-Block in every single Blog-Post with same settings manually (and changes to that head change everything again by hand).

    I thought there could be something like a “easy way of a Page template” as example with some “kind of Reusable Block” as head but with extra “image assignment” for the “kind of Reusable Block“. Perhaps with some easy tutorials about that would be great, but as I said, now I know now that it is more complicated as I thought.
    As WordPress has “Reusable Blocks” (but without options) and support “Page Templates”, I thought the way to a solution I was looking for could by simple.

    Perhaps I will simply take a look in the linked website in the code of the page template which is used there and look, if I can create something similar by self in a own Page template which I can use with your theme then. I think this will be the best way. (Or?)

    So, if you do not have some more advice (or tips) for me, we can close it here.
    Thanks for your advises!

    Having some difficulty in getting it to look good. I can’t seem to add the “Shop Sidebar” to the “page”, which is some sort of widget. Seems to be automatic when you build it as a category, but when I try to create a page, I don’t know how to add the sidebar.

    Also the shortcodes above didn’t work as described. Here is what I had to do to display a certain category:

    [product_category columns=”4″ category=”batting-cages”]

    It took a long time to figure that out. That “category” is not really the category I have, it is product category. Also Woocommerce doc didn’t say you had to use slug names. In fact there was no example using product_category or even product_categories. It was trial and (a lot of) error before I figured it out.

    I guess I could have used [products columns=”4″ ids=”a bunch of numbers”], but that isn’t very descriptive.

    Also I have difficulty inserting an image within a paragraph. I can’t seem to control it very well as I can in PageBuilder. And the next paragraph doesn’t flush left on the next line below the image. If the image is in the paragraph and the paragraph is not very long, the next paragraph stays indented next to the image. See the screenshot I uploaded.

    Hi Robert,
    You can add your product categories into any page using a shortcode like this: [products limit=”8″ columns=”4″ category=”hoodies”]
    So you can create the page however you want, then add the shortcode into a block.
    Would that work for you?

    If you wanted to build your own template you can through a child theme.

    I work already in child theme.

    Depending on how you want that image to show would change how it’s done. For example, are you wanting the page title to be on top of the image? Or are you wanting the page title below the image?

    At the moment, I think it’s good as it is now, so I want to have the page title below of the parallax image. And below of Breadcrumbs, as it is now.

    And I think I take your recommendation, not to make the parallax picture related to the featured image. Thank you for that.
    But also in this case, would be nice to have something like a template, to have this parallax feature active on all sites of the same kind and to be able to make changes on the parallax feature centralized.

    It seems you assumed correct, I switched Kadence Page Transitions Plugin off, and no realign in Firefox.

    You can check if you want, I will leave Transitions Plugin off for now.

    Do you see a chance for a fix or it is more a thing which is out of reach and I should simply not use page transitions with such a parallax feature?

    In Ascend Premium, Categories are not pages. When you create one it defaults to the classic editor and even though there seems to be a button for “Extra Shortcodes”, it does not allow me to enter anything when I press the button, i.e. nothing happens.

    I assume you cannot use the block editor for Categories? I was wondering how to enter a brief table, a few rows and a few columns with a border. Or is there something newer or better for Ascend Premium under the Category option? Thanks. /Bob DeCloss
