Hello-

I am trying to add a custom SVG in a header. I want this SVG to be a trigger to show a pop out menu.
1- I put in the following code into a HTML Widget. In the widget preview it shows greats. In the header preview and frontend it does not show at all. Code is showing in the source code.

I went to update the footer on my website (Virtue Premium) and when I clicked to go to the widgets section, these errors appeared. I’ve never seen this before.

Dane, I solved the problem.

As for the space between the header and slide image on home page. If was a quirky adjustment to the pixels size of the photo used. Just something I have never had an issue with before. Learned something new there. 😉

As for the typography, I just learned that when you insert LATEST POSTS widget on your page, the theme will grab whatever you have as posts, and consider them ARCHIVED, until you produce more recent dated posts. Therefore, I recognized that I had not yet set up the ARCHIVE page setting. Once I did that…bingo! It’s all looking like it’s suppose to.

Sometimes is the most subtle/obvious things, isn’t it? 🙂

Hi Adda,

As you can see, you need to change the Page Layout first from Appearance > Customize > Posts/Pages Layout > Page Layout > and from the Default Page Layout section, choose whether you’d like a left or right sidebar. And from there, you can add a Menu Navigation in a widget then assign a set of menu that you’d like to appear at the sidebar.

This method is easier than using Hooks Element. But if you want to know how to do it using a Hooks Element, please let me know and I’ll be happy to provide it for you.

Good Morning

Hi Mike!
The Ascend gallery widget is meant to be pretty basic. I would recommend using the Kadence Slider.
Though if you want to continue with this widget, you can use css like this to adjust the transition speed:

.slick-initialized .slick-slide {
    transition: opacity 1200ms ease 0s !important;
}

FYI – As a note to other people trying to do the same, the #block-86 in the CSS that Bonn sent is the CSS ID of the row block the TOC in on the Sidebar.

<section id="block-86" class="widget widget_block" style="top: 80px; max-height: calc(100vh - 80px);">

To use this for your site, you will have to use the inspector to find the TOC block in the sidebar and find it’s unique block ID.

There are 2 ways to do this, the easiest one is adding this custom CSS:

body:not(.single-post) .sidebar-inner-wrap #block-86 {
    display: none;
}

The other one is setting a different sidebar on archive pages in Customizer: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Wnu7gEbe

You can duplicate sidebar 1 to sidebar 2 by highlighting the widgets, then press CTRL + C or CMD + C.

Then go to Sidebar 2, add a Paragraph block, then press CTRL + V or CMD + V

I’m using the Ascend Gallery widget with the Slider option which is perfect for what I’m trying to do with one exception; I can’t control the decay or fade time. Is it possible to achieve this with some custom CSS?

The page I have set up is HERE.

A fade time of something like 1500-2000 milliseconds would probably work well.

While we’re at it, is there a way to remove the arrows on either side of the slideshow? I got rid of the dots and thought I had the correct CSS to remove the arrows, but it’s not working.

I contacted their support, and they confirmed the bug. Their developers checked the issue, and I got this answer from them.

Sorry bout that… I found the widget addon and did use it like the old theme. However that seems not to let me add a second widget for the mobile/tablet view???? Not sure why the HTML doesn’t work in the header. I have tried e few snippets inside a page and it does work using what seems to be the same editor….but not in the header????

First time using Kadence and I’m trying to put in a I-Frame HTML like in the old header widgets from Virtue.
Does not work.
Is the theme not taking Iframes or just not working properly??
Actually I’ve tried a couple of other HTML codes and they don’t work either.

Hi there!

Upon inspecting your website, I can see that you’re using the free Ascend theme, not Ascend Premium. The “kad_imgmenu_widget” widget is only available with Ascend Premium.

To check which theme you’re using, log in to your website as an administrator. Then, go to Appearance > Themes. If you do not see “Ascend Premium”, download it from your Kadence WP account on this page. Then, follow the steps here.

Before doing the steps above, I will recommend creating a website backup so you will have something to revert to(if errors occur). If changes happen after switching to Ascend Premium theme, kindly follow the steps here – https://docs.kadencewp.com/ascend-premium/upgrade-from-free-to-premium/.

Upon checking within your website, there is an error on the console log coming from the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin. Additionally, I can see that there is an available update for it.

Please could you create a website backup and update the plugin and/or theme to see if that will fix the issue? Other troubleshooting steps can be seen in this post. If you haven’t yet, kindly do the steps listed to see what may be the cause of the issue.

My site background color is very light. Somehow, the default text color of the copyright widget in the footer is white. That makes it almost invisible. In “Design”, there is not text color option.
