In reply to: Ascend: Premium Theme #2 / Parallax Image
Hi, Hannah,
Yes, I’m using SiteOrigin Pagebuilder. And yes, I did that, but image is not coming up….and I don’t have a place to put text.
Strange. Because of my layout, I want it just above the footer. So, I’ve tried placing in Above Footer Widget location….and Home Page Widget location. I have checked the Home Page Widget on Theme Options> Home Page Layout. But nothing is working.
What am I missing? Very strange.
Thank you,
PamIn forum: Ascend ThemeHi,
What was used to produce the Parallax Image just above footer on this theme?
While writing over demo contents, I deleted without making note. 😉 I have tried several widgets unsuccessfully.
Thank you,

July 10, 2019 at 9:31 am #230449I’m fine if the page doesn’t resize, and mobile users just have to zoom in. Is that okay?
Well, I would tell you no it’s not ok, like I said you will get dinged in search results, removed for not being responsive and for your mobile traffic you are not serving them good content designed in a way that best fits their viewing screen.
If you feel you have to go forward with this then I suggest you place all the text inside an image like in photoshop or some image editing software and then just upload that image, don’t use any text layers. That at least will prevent Google from removing your listing in search results because it won’t be seeing that as content that is to small to read. Still, though that is again not serving your viewers.
I personally suggest you rethink the design, There are responsive ways to show this kind of content where it gracefully changes layout for mobile by adding columns. Like Image in the right column text in the left then image above or below on mobile.
In terms of making that a slider I don’t recommend it because it’s burying a lot of important content off the screen and that much content shouldn’t require the viewer to have to seek through slides to find out what is there. In terms of usability, for example, the user shouldn’t have to click slide navigation hoping to find the information about tigers without any indication that it may or may not be there.
Anyway, those are my recommendations. But if you are staying the course I suggest an image, that at least that will prevent your site from being labeled not mobile friendly by search engines.
If you want a slider and would consider a two column layout you could look at a pagebuilder, brizy offers a built-in slider feature for rows of content, site origin offers a Layout Slider widget where you can build things out in rows with columns.

Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean. And I’m honestly not sure I’m following what you want… sorry.
I expected to see visual editor there
Where exactly is “there”? If you’re using page builder by siteorigin to edit your page we do not advise switching back and forth to the visual editor as it will break your page. Instead, you can add a visual editor widget to your page builder layout.

Hi Ben,
Your suggestion of a block that queries the custom post type is great. TRhen you could display different staff-groups on different pages etc.
I’ve set up some examples to show what I mean about the shortcode not looking like the widget or the block.
On this page, we have the widget running in a page-builder block.
On this development page, we have the kadence testimonial block, followed by the shortcode.
Testimonial block:

Many thanks,

I think I’m misunderstanding. Do you mean that you don’t see the visual editor widget within siteorigin’s list of widgets? Or that you’re unable to revert to the visual editor? If you’re using the siteorigin editor on a page you should not switch back to the visual editor. Can you explain in more detail what you’re wanting? Sorry for not following.

In forum: Ascend ThemeIn reply to: ASCEND: SiteOrigin Call to Action Widget Missing
Hey,
If you want to use the siteorigin call to action you need their widgets bundle plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/
Hope that helps!Hannah

July 9, 2019 at 10:12 am #230357The testimonial block is not post query, it’s a static block which is what many actually want when adding testimonials, a custom post type is an extra unneeded step for them. So it’s designed to work the way it does with no plans to change it to a query of posts. I may consider adding a different block that queries a custom post type just inside ascend.
The shortcode can output the same as the widget so not sure what you mean in regards to that looking different? Can you post a link with what you mean?

In forum: Ascend ThemeHi,
So I’m attempting to place a Call to Action widget on my homepage. Don’t it before. No problem. However, this time….
I’ve used these directions.*Login to see link
But there is not a SiteOrigin: Call to Action in my widgets bundle. Strange.I tried using Ascend: Call to Action, but it’s limiting.
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
PamIn forum: Ascend ThemeHi,
I’ve used this code on the Virtue theme. But for the life of me can’t get it to work on the Ascend Theme.
.home-message {
border: 0px solid #6e6e6e;
box-shadow: 10px 10px 5px #6e6e6e;
-moz-box-shadow: 10px 10px 5px #6e6e6e;
-webkit-box-shadow: 10px 10px 5px #6e6e6e;
-khtml-box-shadow: 10px 10px 5px #6e6e6e;
}FYI – the Ascend theme does offer image shadowing with the Image Widget. I want to carry that option over into all images, if possible. If not, I will settle for just the homepage. But I would prefer to be consistent. Slider images not necessary. Just post and widget images.
Thank you for always helping me.

Thanks Ben,
That’s a pity as it doesn’t look as good as either the Testimonial Carousel block promised to be, nor the existing widget within a page builder block. I think I shall have to leave it in page builder for the time being.
Are there any plans or date to get the Testimonial Carousel block working properly?
Kind regards,

Thank you the fast response Ben,
There is no cache plugin installed.
Well now I see that it does not happen when I am logged out! (That is why I couldn’t recreate it on the other browser)The text in the topbar is an Animated typed text Virtue shortcode (in topbar widget). Now I see that it only works when logged in! 😀
In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Page builder and accordions broken after WP update
July 8, 2019 at 11:11 am #230226Hey Connie,
You are using a version of the theme from 14th May 2015. This tells me that you went the last 4 years without updating your site? Then just recently updated some plugins like siteorigin? Is that how it happend? If so that explains to me exactly how you got into the situation you are in. WordPress, or no software really and certainly no web framework that relies on so many external parts is designed to go 4 years without updating then jump update.
Next you seem to think the buttons are broken here:
(but their test page actually isn’t working – the buttons are broken: https://www.rachelsballet.com/classes-test/)But you don’t have a widget installed that would create that output, does this mean you previously did? Or previously had a newer version of the theme installed?
It’s not appearing correctly because that widget simply doesn’t exists, that isn’t a problem with the builder it’s an issue of what have you removed or changed that remove that widget from your site entirely.
The first thing you need to do is update your theme to the latest version 4.9.10

In forum: Ascend ThemeIn reply to: Testimonial Carousel Widget full width
Hi Mike,
If using the testimonial block within Kadence Blocks allows you to do both of these things and tons more. See here: https://www.kadenceblocks.com/testimonial-block/
If you want to continue using the testimonial carousel widget you can use this css to stretch it full width and left align the text:.kt_testimonial_carousel .testimonial_item { max-width: 1200px; } .testimonial-box p { text-align: left; }Hope that helps!
Hannah
In forum: Ascend ThemeI’d found a previous thread where Ben mentioned that he might consider adding some customization options to the Testimonial Carousel Widget format in the future, but for now it still must be accomplished via CSS. I’d like to do 2 things. First, and most important, is have the testimonial box be full width of the row or at least something very close to it. I think it would also look better if I could left justify the testimonials. Could you provide the CSS to accomplish this? I know how to do this in Virtue, but not Ascend.
Here’s a link to the site.
Thanks so much!

Are you seeing it in your list of widgets? Do you have the tinyMCE plugin installed and activated? https://wordpress.org/plugins/tinymce-advanced/Hannah
In forum: Ascend ThemeTopic: Ascend Mobile Header Color
Hello,
I am trying to change the background color of the mobile header area to white from black.
I have managed to get the area behind the icons to change to white, but the area behind the logo is still black as well as the padding on the sides is still black.
My CSS used:
button.mobile-navigation-toggle .kt-mnt span {
background: black;
}.mobile-header-container {
background: white;
}.kt-header-extras .kadence_social_widget a, .mobile-header-container .kt-mobile-header-toggle button {
color: #000000; }You can see the black still showing on the header of the mobile version: *Login to see link
Please help!
